MP May 1 Weather Update: State Witnesses Mixed Weather; Extreme Heat In Bhopal, Indore & Khandwa, Rail & Storm Alert Issued In Eastern Districts

Despite hailstorm and rain in the initial week of May, intense heatwave persists in many region of the state

MP May 1 Weather Updates: Storm Alert Issued For First Week Of May, Windspeed Might Breach 50–60 km/h In Several Districts Including Satna, Rewa | Unsplash

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The state is experiencing an unstable and mixed weather conditions as the month of may begins. Several districts are under rain and hailstorm alert in the first week of May.

According to meteorological department, the state might witness high windspeed reaching up to 50–60 km/h in several districts including Satna, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, and Umaria.

In a dramatic turn on Wednesday evening, the state witnessed strong and gusty winds in several parts of the state. In Betul, 100-foot BSNL tower collapsed due to strong winds. Indore saw trees uprooted, and Bhopal saw overcast conditions post 4 PM.

Despite hailstorm and rain in the initial week of May, intense heatwave persists in many region of the state. On Wednesday, Khargone recorded the highest temperature at 43.2 degrees Celsius followed by 43.1 degrees in Khandwa, 43 degrees Celsius in Ratlam-Shajapur. At the same time, the mercury remained above 41 degrees in Guna, Narsinghpur, Dhar, Sagar, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh, Raisen and Damoh.

Temperature in Bhopal-Indore was recorded at 41.6 degrees Celsius. Whereas, Gwalior at 39.3 degrees, Ujjain 42.5 degrees and Jabalpur 39 degrees Celsius.

Intense heatwave in these districts

According to the Meteorological Department, the mercury is expected to rise upto 45 degrees or more in Gwalior, Chhatarpur, Narsinghpur, Niwari, Maihar, Tikamgarh, Bhind, Datia, Khargone, Barwani, Khandwa, Morena, Rajgarh, Raisen, Shajapur, Sheopurkalan, Shivpuri and Vidisha districts.

Looking ahead, the highest temperatures are expected in the last week of May, potentially crossing 46 degree in the districts of MP bordering Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Major urban centers like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur will continue to hover between 44°C to 45°C.
