Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a case of love jihad, a Muslim man concealed his identity and raped a woman for four years while promising to marry her. The accused pressured her to change her religion and even issued life threats to the victim when she refused.
The woman approached the police with members of a saffron organisation on Wednesday and lodged a complaint against the accused. An FIR has been registered in this connection on her complaint, police officials said. In her complaint given to police, the victim said that she worked at a private firm. About four years back, she received call from an unidentified number.
The caller identified himself as Rahul and spoke to her multiple times before the duo entered into a relationship. The accused promised to marry her and raped her on many occasions in a room on this very pretext. The victim later learnt that Rahul’s real name was Sahil Khan. The accused assured the victim that he would change his religion and marry her soon.
However, the accused later started pressuring the woman to convert to Islam if she wanted to marry him. The accused switched off his mobile phone when the victim called him continuously. The victim then approached the family of the accused who claimed that they had severed relations with him and he was now working in Delhi.
On Wednesday, the victim reached Kolar police station with volunteers of Sanskriti Bachao Manch and lodged a complaint against the accused. Kolar police station incharge Sanjay Soni said an FIR had been registered on the charges of rape, under the provisions of SC/ST Act and other relevant sections of BNS.
As the incident took place in Jehnagirabad, the case has been transferred to Jehangirabad police station for further investigation, he added.
