Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress MLAs reached the assembly with plastic snakes on Day 2 of the budget session on Tuesday. They gathered near Mahatma Gandhi's statue and staged a protest against rising unemployment in the state.

Taking a dig at the ruling party, the opposition, led by LoP Umar Singhar, said that the BJP government is sitting like a snake coiled on jobs.

Keolari MLA Rajneesh Singh was seen carrying spoilt wheat crop. He hit out at the BJP, saying the farmers of his constituency are deprived of irrigation facilities despite sufficient water in Sanjay Sarovar. The unavailability of water at the farms has ruined the entire crop.

The economic survey will be tabled in the assembly today. Along with this, the second supplementary budget will also be presented. After this, the Governor's address will be discussed.

The Congress leaders alleged that the government has not allotted sufficient time to discuss budget.

At the same time, Deputy Leader of Opposition Hemant Katare said, 'I think the government neither has knowledge of the budget nor they have planned the budget. That is why they are trying to avoid discussion. This is the shortest budget session ever called since the formation of Madhya Pradesh. The budget session lasts for 30 to 40 days, however the ruling BJP has allotted only nine days."

The Congress leaders and workers also staged a demonstration on Monday, raising farmers' issues. During the demonstration, the stage collapsed, and at least 12 of them were injured. The leaders have termed it as BJP's conspiracy; however, reports suggest that the stage collapsed due to the overweight as people thrice its capacity were seen climbing.

Police also fired water cannons to disperse the protesting crowd.
