Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Milk sellers in Jabalpur have once again increased the price of milk by ₹3 per litre without any permission on Monday.

This sudden increase has made people angry, and many are asking the administration to take action. Some local groups have already started protesting against this decision.

Residents allege that the dairy operators neither sought permission from the administration nor gave any prior notice before increasing prices.

The city has over 100 dairies producing lakhs of litres of milk every day. A large quantity is sent to Nagpur and other cities, while the remaining is sold within Jabalpur.

People also complain that the quality of milk sold locally is poor.

Even with poor quality, the price has been raised from ₹70 to ₹73 per litre.

People have also accused the Veterinary Department of ignoring cruelty to cows and buffaloes, and the use of harmful injections to get more milk.

In the last three years, milk prices in the district have gone up by ₹11.

The increase has come just before the festival season, adding to the problems of common people.

In nearby villages, buffalo milk is still sold for ₹50 to ₹55 per litre.
