Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): Sohail Khan of Sagar has brought pride to India by securing the 12th position in the world rankings released by Kudo International Federation (KIF) in M-250 category.
This remarkable feat has earned him a direct entry into the prestigious Kudo World Cup 2025, set to take place in Bulgaria, where he will lead the Indian contingent.
Sohail’s global ranking follows his impressive performance at the Eurasian Kudo Cup 2024, where he clinched a bronze medal. Trained under Dr Mohammad Aijaz Khan at Sports Complex in Sagar, Sohail continues to rise in the world of Japanese mixed martial arts.
Joining Sohail on the Indian team are Vaishnavi Singh (FM-220), Priya Thapa (W-220+) and Babu Choudhary (M-270), all of whom qualified based on their stellar performances in KIF-recognized competitions during the 2024 season.
Sohail, a gold medallist at 2017 Junior World Cup and four-time international winner at Akshay Kumar Kudo Tournament, also reached the quarterfinals in 2023 Senior World Championship in Tokyo. His sporting excellence has earned him a position in the Income Tax Department under the sports quota.
Speaking on his achievement, Sohail said, “This is a proud moment for me and my country. I won’t stop till I reach the top spot.”
