Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A 28-year-old outsourced power worker was electrocuted to death on Friday, a police official said.
As per reports, the deceased Bhupendra Gurjar succumbed to severe burns after being electrocuted while fixing a power line. Gurjar sustained over 80 per cent burns and passed away during transport to Delhi from Gwalior, following initial treatment at the district hospital.
The incident took place in the Mayurvan Colony New Housing Board area when Gurjar and his team responded to an electrical fault.
After resolving the issue, he got electrocuted. After immediate first aid, he was referred to Delhi due to his critical condition but died near Agra. The family accused the electricity department of negligence.
In response, the company pledged ₹4 lakh in compensation, along with ₹5 lakh in insurance amount and assured that his wife would receive a pension.
Additionally, one family member will be offered outsourced employment. Following the incident, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Outsourced workers threatened to escalate the protest if no concrete action is taken against those responsible for his death.
Demand to honour BN Rau posthumously
Upper Caste Unity Forum submitted a memorandum, demanding that BN Rau be honoured with the title of Constitution Maker and awarded the President's Medal posthumously.
Hundreds of forum members presented their demands to the tehsildar. BN Rau, recognised for his legal expertise, served as the Constitutional Advisor to the Constituent Assembly in 1946.
He represented India at the United Nations from 1949 to 1952 and was the first Indian judge at the International Court of Justice, all while working without a salary.
