Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday welcomed the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in Parliament, calling it a historic step towards transparency and social justice. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and his commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” for the Bill’s success.

In a statement, Yadav said the legislation will ensure better management and security of Waqf properties while protecting the interests of the poor in the Muslim community. He said the Bill is a reflection of PM Modi’s concern for all sections of society.

The Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with 288 votes in favour and 232 against. In the Rajya Sabha, it received stronger backing—128 votes in favour and 95 against—after a marathon debate.

CM Yadav highlighted that the support the Bill has received, especially from Muslims, shows public trust in the government’s intent. He criticised opposition parties for claiming to support minorities but doing little for them in practice.

The CM added that the amendment will empower Muslim women, boost revenue for state Waqf Boards, curb financial irregularities, and prevent illegal occupation of Waqf lands. He also said the Bill would help safeguard heritage sites and promote social welfare.
