Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The registration process for Agniveer Army recruitment has concluded, with the Common Entrance Exam scheduled for June, followed by physical tests in July and August.

The Army has requested approval from the administration to finalise a venue for the recruitment rally. Last year, the rally was moved to Sagar after Gwalior’s Centre for Disability Sports Complex approval was revoked at the last moment, resulting in the cancellation of Gwalior’s first recruitment drive in a decade.

This time, the Army has proposed the state government’s sports complex near the Centre for Disability Sports Complex as the venue. Located 8 km from the City Centre, the complex has a running track, testing facilities, and shelters, making it ideal for large-scale recruitment. The Army hopes for swift approval.

Recruitment rallies in Gwalior have stalled since 2014 due to past violence during exams at the Mela Ground. Over the years, enrolment has sharply declined—from 73,000 registrations in 2022-23 to just 24,000 this year. A January 2025 rally in Sagar saw only 9,000 participants, mainly from Morena and Bhind.

The Gwalior Army Recruitment Office is keen to revive interest among Gwalior-Chambal youths, who once dominated army recruitment. However, the administration remains cautious, given past disruptions.

“The registration process for the Agneepath scheme has concluded. Preparations for the recruitment phase are now underway. Discussions will be held with the district administration to finalise appropriate venues for the physical fitness tests, ensuring the selected grounds meet all logistical and suitability requirements,” said Colonel Pankaj Kumar.
