Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): More than 11,000 police personnel posted at the same police station for over five years have been transferred, officials said on Wednesday.

Director General of Police Kailash Makwana had directed all Superintendents of Police (SPs), including Commissioners of Police in Bhopal and Indore, to move out personnel who have completed five years at a single police station.

Special Director General of Police Adarsh Katiyar told Free Press that the move is aimed at streamlining police working. He said, “When personnel stay too long at one station, they start manipulating the system and overpowering their colleagues. This is an effort to make the force more accountable and transparent.”

More than 11,000 personnel have either been transferred to other stations or moved to police lines.

SPs have also been instructed not to re-appoint transferred personnel to the same station for at least three years. Moreover, from constable to sub-inspector rank, no officer should serve more than 10 years within a single sub-division.

The order was issued on June 10, and SPs were directed to submit final reports to Police Headquarters (PHQ) by June 16. The reports were submitted on priority, officials said.
