Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Performing a complex and rare surgical procedure, doctors of the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) of AIIMS have relieved a 30-year-old man of a mass in his chest which had progressively been increasing for the past 18 months.
Investigations revealed that the patient had a large tumour on the right side of the chest, which was encasing multiple ribs and exerting pressure on the right lung.

After a detailed and thorough evaluation, the expert medical team of the department successfully carried out a complex surgical procedure to remove a massive tumour. The tumour weighed approximately two kilograms and measured around 20 centimetres in length. Following the surgery, the patient’s condition gradually improved, showing steady signs of recovery.
After close observation and post-operative care, the patient was deemed fit and has now been discharged from the hospital in a stable condition.
AIIMS Director Dr Ajai Singh said, “The successful execution of such a complex surgery is a significant milestone not only for Madhya Pradesh but also for the neighbouring regions.
AIIMS Bhopal remains committed to ensuring that advanced medical facilities are accessible to every section of society, especially to rural and economically weaker populations.”
