Datia (Madhya Pradesh): A woman was abducted and raped by a man who took her to Mathura under the pretext of disposing of prayer items.

The incident came to light when the woman filed a complaint at the Unnao police station late Tuesday night.

According to the victim, a religious prayer ceremony was taking place at her home. A man from her neighborhood was leading the event.

After the prayer, he offered to take her along to dispose of the prayer items in the river. She agreed and went with him on his bike.

The woman said that once they left the town, the man threatened her. He told her that if she did not go with him, he would perform a dangerous ritual on her house. Afraid, she went with him to Jhansi.

From there, the man took her by train to Agra and then by bus to Mathura. In Mathura, he rented a room near an ashram and kept her there for three days, during which he raped her.

The woman said she tried to resist several times, but the man did not listen.

After three days, he took her back to Jhansi and kept her in a room near a medical college for a few more days. He then left her in Unnao town and fled.

The woman went straight to the police and filed a complaint. Unnao police station in-charge, Bhaskar Sharma, said that a case has been registered under rape and other sections, and the investigation has started.

The accused is currently missing, but police said he will be arrested soon.
