Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident took place in Bhopal's Misrod late on Monday night when a father suffered a fatal heart attack after his 8-year-old child got stuck in the residential lift after a power cut.

According to information, the incident took place at around 11 pm in Royal Farm Villa Colony. The deceased identified as Rishi Bhatnagar (51) lived with his family.

As per investigating officer Amod Sharma, Rishi came down for a walk after dinner on Monday night. His 8-year-old son Devansh also accompanied with him. After a while, When Devansh attempted to return home using the lift, a sudden power cut left the kid trapped inside.

Father panicked and fell unconscious

According to police reports, Rishi panicked and got nervous after seeing his son stuck in the lift. He ran towards the guard room so that the generator could be started. During this entire time, he got very nervous and fell unconscious. The people of the colony immediately took him to the hospital.

About three minutes after the incident, electricity was restored in the colony. The lift also started working and Devansh was safely rescued.

He used to do insurance and property dealing

Rishi worked in property dealing and insurance. His family includes his wife, a teacher in a private school, and two sons—the elder son Harshit, aged 16, and Devansh.

Investigation on aspects of negligence

According to investigating officer Sharma, initially the case is being reported as an accidental death, but aspects of negligence are also being investigated.
