Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A new controversy has cropped up in the House about Congress legislator from Bina, Nirmala Sapre. She has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Sagar district unit president of the BJP, Shyam Tiwari, recently announced the Mandal executive committee.
He has made Sapre the permanent invited member of the executive committee of the Mandal.
As soon as the issue came up, the Congress pulled up the BJP.
Deputy Leader of the House, Hemant Katare, wrote a post on social media. According to the post, the BJP had always denied Sapre’s joining the party.
But the BJP has made her a permanent invited member. Former minister PC Sharma demanded Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar seek Sapre’s resignation from the House.
There cannot be a bigger proof of her joining the BJP than the list of Mandal executive committee members has shown, Sharma said.
On the other hand, the BJP’s district unit president said he had included her name in the list by mistake.
The party has deleted her name and issued another list of the Mandal executive committee.
Sapre joined the BJP during the Lok Sabha election. But she was scared of fighting an election. Sapre gave it in black and white in the House; she had not joined the ruling party.
Now, the Congress is demanding the cancellation of her House membership.
According to sources, Sapre participates in BJP meetings.
