MP’s Bizarre Blunder! Tehsildar Issues Death Certificate Of 'Bhind City,' Social Media Explodes, Lawyers Threaten Arthi Yatra |

Bhind (Madhya Pradesh): In a major government slip-up, a tehsildar in Madhya Pradesh Bhind district issued a death certificate of not a person, rather, declared the entire city of Bhind ‘dead!’

Govind, a resident of Chaturvedi Nagar in Bhind, applied for a death certificate for his father, Ramhet, who had passed away on November 8, 2018.

When the family needed the document in April 2025, they submitted an application to the local tehsil office.

Document goes viral on social media

On May 5, the death certificate was issued, however, when the certificate reached the applicant, it left the family shocked!

Instead of naming Ramhet as deceased, the document listed the entire city ‘Bhind’ as dead!

The document, signed and stamped by Tehsildar Mohanlal Sharma, quickly went viral on social media, sparking both amusement and outrage.

Accused slapped with ₹25k fine

As the matter reached the authorities, Tehsildar Sharma was fined ₹25,000. However, that wasn’t enough to calm the storm down.

Bar Association calls for disciplinary action

The Bhind Bar Association sprang into action. Its president, Vineet Mishra, condemned the incident, stating, “If a government office can mistakenly declare an entire city dead, the official responsible has no right to remain in position.” He called for immediate disciplinary action.

Bar Association secretary Himanshu Sharma went a step further, warning that if no action is taken, the lawyers would organize a symbolic funeral march (Arthi Yatra) against the tehsil office. He alleged the office is practicing corruption and no certificate is issued without under-the-table dealings.

Tehsildar Transferred

As the uproar grew, the district administration stepped in. An official order from the District Public Relations Office transferred Tehsildar Mohanlal Sharma to the Land Records Department. His responsibilities have now been handed over to Naib Tehsildar Devendra Singh.
