Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The death of a 46-year-old engineer whose body was found in a car at a deserted spot in Sukhi Sewania has been confirmed as murder, according to the autopsy report released four days after the discovery. Earlier, police had suspected that the man, identified as Kapil Sharma, had died due to heart attack.
The post-mortem report revealed that Kapil’s throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon, leading to registration of a murder case against unidentified persons, police officials said on Tuesday.
According to Rambabu Chaudhary, in-charge of Sukhi Sewania police station, police received information on July 6 about an unidentified body lying inside a car near Bijasen farms in Zahir Peer village. When officers arrived, the body was already in a decomposed and swollen state, and no visible wounds were noticed at the time.
The deceased was later identified as Kapil Sharma, a resident of Sant Asharam Nagar. He was a civil engineer by profession and also involved in real estate dealings.
Investigations revealed that Kapil had gone missing on July 3. His wife, Richa Sharma, had returned from her parents’ house that night and found him absent. When repeated attempts to reach him failed, she lodged a missing complaint with police.
Police inquiries found that Kapil was last seen with his friend Deepak Kushwaha till around 10 pm on the day he went missing. Officials also said that he had been involved in a monetary dispute with some prople. Moreover, Kapil had married Richa after the death of his first wife, and all relevant aspects of his personal and professional life are being examined.
Police have said that several suspects have been detained for questioning, and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
