Bhopal's Banganga Accident: Bus Driver Held From Berasia

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): TT Nagar police on Wednesday arrested the driver of the bus that mowed down commuters at Banganga Crossing on Monday morning causing death of a BAMS intern and injuries to several others. The bus driver Vishal Bairagi had fled leaving the bus on the spot after the tragic incident.

Investigations revealed that Vishal was a resident of Bairasia. Two teams were deployed to trace and arrest the driver.

TT Nagar police station incharge Sudhir Kumar Arjaria said Vishal was arrested from Berasia following a raid by team of Kamla Nagar police station. Arjaria said primary questioning from the driver did not indicate that he was drunk while driving the bus.

However, his licence of heavy vehicle along with his driving experience is under investigation. Moreover, he will also be questioned to ascertain if the brakes of the bus were not properly functioning for past some time or it failed suddenly.

On Tuesday, police had arrested Pradeep Pandey, the member of the educational trust, which ran the bus and Pravesh Nagar who was presently running the bus without proper documents.

Taking serious note of the incident, District Magistrate has suspended the RTO Jitendra Sharma.
