Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Air passengers from Bhopal will soon have more options to fly directly to new destinations, as air traffic is set to begin this year from Jewar International Airport in Noida and Navi Mumbai Airport.
Bhopal will be connected to both these cities in the first phase of operations.
According to sources, IndiGo and Air India Express have shown interest in getting slots for flights connecting Bhopal to Jewar and Navi Mumbai. The direct flights are expected to be available with the start of the winter schedule, which comes into effect at the end of October.
The new schedule not only brings changes to the existing flight timings but also includes new routes. IndiGo has proposed to start direct flights from Bhopal to Jewar Airport and has also discussed restarting flights to Kolkata, Lucknow, and Goa, which were previously discontinued.
The Airport Authority has agreed to provide slots for all these destinations. With this, Bhopal is expected to see a boost in connectivity, especially with the opening of operations at Noida's Jewar Airport, which will further enhance travel convenience for passengers in the region.
Air India Express will arrive
Air India Express will also arrive in Bhopal in the winter season. The company has made preparations to start two flights to Bengaluru. Apart from this, the company will start direct flights to Navi Mumbai. Flight operations are expected to start from Navi Mumbai Airport from the last week of September.
After the flights start from here, passengers will have the option to go to Navi Mumbai apart from the main airport of Mumbai. Considering the road traffic in Mumbai, it is believed that the new airport will prove useful for the passengers.
Connectivity of small cities will increase
Connectivity is also likely to increase from Bhopal to cities like Rewa, Satna and Datia in the winter season. Fly Big has agreed to increase the frequency of flights to Rewa and Datia under the Udan scheme. Alliance Air can also start flights to Rewa and Indore.
