Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal recorded minimum dog bite cases securing 6th position among six cities which were surveyed by the National Health Mission (NHM) for dog bite cases.
Ratlam tops in list while Indore came third. In fact, under National Rabies Control Programme by the National Health Mission (NHM), on the instructions of the Government of India, a survey of dog bite cases was conducted in six major cities of Madhya Pradesh - Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Ratlam.
The survey was conducted for the year 2024 and the period from January to June 2025. According to the report, Bhopal recorded the least number of dog bite cases among the six cities, while Ratlam ranked first in this regard.
There has been a significant decline in cases of dog bites in Bhopal. Among the 6 cities of the state, Bhopal recorded the least number of dog bite cases, while Ratlam ranked first in this case.
This has been revealed in the survey of National Health Mission. Ujjain ranked second, Indore third, Jabalpur fourth and Gwalior fifth. In the year 2024, a total of 19 thousand 285 cases of dog bites were reported in Bhopal, which was an average of 0.8 per cent.
Whereas in the first half of 2025 (January-June) this average decreased to only 0.07 per cent.
