Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state health department does not have any proposal for facility of MRI machines in 50 districts in the state. The CT scan facilities are available in district hospitals on public private partnership mode in the state.
The Chief Medical and Health Officers of districts have expressed concern over absence of MRI facility stating that patients have no other option but to visit private centres for MRI and pay huge sums of money.
Currently, MRI machines are available in district hospital in Bhopal and Gwalior.
“We do not have MRI machines in district hospital. Only outsourced CT scan facility is available. Patients have to go to private for MRI whenever they are referred. From our side, we have communicated our concern as it is tribal belt. District hospitals play vital role in health care in entire region,” Shahdol CMHO Dr AK Lal said. Sagar CMHO Dr Mamta Timori and Dr NN Mishra of Rewa expressed similar views.
‘We’re upgrading’
Commissioner, health, Tarun Rathi said, "We have MRI facilities in district hospital in Bhopal and Gwalior. Tenders have been issued for installation of MRI machines in Indore, Ujjain and Jabalpur. Facilities are being expanded in other district hospitals."
