Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A man brutally assaulted his wife in front of their two young children in Damkheda. The accused Arvind Valmiki allegedly tied his wife’s legs, beat her with a stick, and struck her repeatedly with a beer bottle, Kolar police said here on Monday.
According to police, the victim Sakun Bai (28) had returned to her husband's house on Sunday evening after a prior separation due to domestic disputes.
A quarrel soon erupted, leading to the savage assault. Shockingly, Valmiki left his wife naked and unconscious in the back of the house after bathing her, allegedly to worsen her bleeding.

Investigating officer and ASI Veer Mani Pandey said that the attack was witnessed by the couple's terrified children, Meenu (9) and Amit (7), who later narrated the ordeal to the police. Initially, the accused misled responding officials, claiming it was a domestic matter. However, his mother, Munni Bai (58), later alerted the police, prompting a rescue.
The police found Sakun Bai in a critical condition and rushed her to the hospital. Evidence, including a blood-soaked saree, broken beer bottles, and the weapon, were recovered from the scene. A case of attempted murder has been registered against Valmiki.
Police say the victim remains in serious condition, and further investigation is underway.
