Bhopal: With resentment and protests by SAPAKS taking on Congress and BJP leaders alike political situation in state has turned volatile- more for Congress- as it plans to tie-up with the BSP in the upcoming assembly polls.

PCC chief Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia both had to face ire of the upper caste protestors at different locations and time. Considering the volatile situation Congress workers are now against tie-up with the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) at ground level thinking that it might harm the poll prospects in upcoming elections.

Sources in the Congress say that at present Kamal Nath and Scindia are the main proponents of tie-up with the BSP. “They are senior leaders with active involvement in central politics as well. Therefore they are keeping in mind equations for next Lok Sabha polls also. Moreover, the deal for tie-up was finalized in New Delhi therefore they have to respect that also,” said a senior leader from Chambal region.

A ticket aspirant from Bhopal seeking anonymity said that it is a difficult situation for Congress and considering equations one should not go with the BSP as Congress’ may lose upper caste votes. Three days ago hundreds of people, mostly youths, had targeted Guna Lok Sabha MP and Congress leader Scindia.

He had come to participate in a rally in Aron, a nagar panchayat in Guna district. An hour before his arrival, protesters removed his posters, forced shopkeepers to down their shutters and raised slogans against the government and the SC/ST Act. The protesters attacked the police which had come to clear the traffic, forcing the administration to resort to lathi charge to control the situation.

In past three days two union ministers including Narendra Singh Tomar and Thavarchand Gehlot, three MPs including MJ Akbar, Bhagirath Prasad, Prabhat Jha and state minister Rustom Singh have faced ire of the upper caste protestors.
