Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress councilors led by LoP in BMC council Shabista Zaki on Thursday met Principal Secretary (Urban administration and development), alleging serious financial irregularities in BMC revised budget for 2024-25 with the proposed budget for 2025-26.
The Congress councilors accused the Mayor and the Mayor-in-Council of bypassing due process, misleading the council, and violating the rights of elected representatives. They demanded an immediate investigation into the alleged irregularities and legal action against people responsible for it.

The delegation of councillors handed over a memorandum in which they claimed that the revised 2024-25 budget was sent to the government without any discussion or approval in the municipal council meeting, which they claimed was a violation of provisions of the Municipal Corporation Act.
The council meeting was held on April 3, 2025 but it did not include the revised budget in its agenda and neither any discussion was held nor was it passed, the Congress leaders alleged.
They further alleged that the Municipal budget was passed by majority without addressing objections raised by Congress members, they also claimed that taxes were increased after March 31, 2025 which is a clear violation of Section 135 of the Act.
