Bhopal: AIIMS With NHM Opens Centre For Severe Acute Malnutrition

The centre will provide advanced medical assistance for SAM cases, particularly for non-responsive and critically ill children.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A Centre of Excellence has been established in AIIMS under the Department of Paediatrics, in collaboration with the National Health Mission-Madhya Pradesh (NHM-MP) and UNICEF combating Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).

The centre will provide advanced medical assistance for SAM cases, particularly for non-responsive and critically ill children. Severe cases are being treated at AIIMS Bhopal’s Severe Malnutrition Advanced Referral and Treatment (SMART) Unit.

The Centre of Excellence is dedicated to provide high-level technical support, promoting research and conducting training programmes on SAM management.

With state-of-the-art facilities and expertise, the goal is to provide comprehensive care to critically ill children, train healthcare workers and support the government’s malnutrition eradication mission.

In this regard, the state government organised a two-day divisional-level residential F- SAM training programme for Feeding Demonstrators and ANMs/Staff Nurses working in Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs). The objective of the training was to enhance the treatment and management of severely malnourished children.

Aadya Samaroh Begins With Exhibition, Play; 21 Women Tribal Painters Showcase Their Artworks

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The five-day ‘Aadya Samaroh,’ focusing on women's creativity to mark International Women's Day began with an exhibition and a play at Bharat Bhavan on Thursday.

The event was inaugurated with an exhibition ‘Ranglipi,’ by Padma Shri recipient Bhil, artist and trustee of Bhavan Bhuri Bai at Rangdarshini Gallery.

The paintings of 21 women tribal painters of Madhya Pradesh including Bhuribai, Durgabai, Shakun Bai Baig, Lado Bai and Kumudini Shyam were on display. It was followed by a play ‘Kela,’ written, directed and acted by Bhumika Dubey. In about 70 minutes, the artiste introduced the audience to various aspects of the life of a girl named Kela.
