Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The officials of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve are yet to take a call on the rescued tigress. The decision whether to keep the feline inside the enclosure for a longer duration or shift her to another park is to be taken.

The tigress was captured and kept inside an enclosure after it killed a fourteen-year-old boy and had attacked another man a few days earlier.

The national park deputy director, Prakash Kumar Verma told Free Press that the tigress, which is in the category of animals having conflict history with humans, is still confined in the enclosure.

The official said that soon a committee of experts will be formed to study the behavior of the tigress and on its suggestion, any decision whether to shift the big cat to national park or release her in the wild will be taken. The decision to constitute a committee will be taken within a fortnight, he added.

Sources said that most of the tiger attacks around Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve occurred when villagers sneaked into the jungle to collect Mahua flowers. Therefore, villagers are now being sensitized to avoid venturing into the forest, especially during darkness, and to move in groups while making noise.
