Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Director General of Police (DGP) has removed two police officers from their present postings and attached them to the office of the Inspector General (IG), Narmadapuram, following a public altercation during a BJP training session in Pachmarhi.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ashutosh Mishra, posted in Narmadapuram, and Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Kishore Maurya from Sagar were involved in a heated exchange on Sunday at Gate No. 1 of Hotel Glen View, the venue of the ongoing three-day BJP MP-MLA training programme.
The two officers allegedly used abusive language and attempted to physically assault each other. The incident was caught on video and went viral on social media on Sunday evening.
In order issued on Monday, it was stated that both officers have been attached to the IG office with immediate effect until further notice. The action was taken for their “negligent, unruly conduct, indiscipline and acts that tarnish the image of the police force.”
DGP Kailash Makwana posted the order on X, stating, “Proper conduct is expected from uniformed force officers.” Show cause notices are being issued to both officials for further disciplinary action.
This is the second such incident in a month. Earlier, Chambal Range IG Sushant Kumar Saxena and SP Datia Veerendra Kumar Mishra were removed after a verbal spat, which reportedly drew strong displeasure from the Chief Minister.
