Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): A 71-year-old man was kidnapped in broad daylight after his son failed to repay a loan in Jabalpur.

The elderly man was safely rescued, and the main accused was arrested on Wednesday.

The accused demanded the loan amount from the son as ransom. The elderly man was safely rescued, and the main accused was arrested. Three others involved in the incident are still on the run.

According to information, the shocking incident took place on Sunday near Badi Pul in the City Kotwali police station area.

Ram Bhola Mishra, a resident of Jaystambh Ghoghar, was walking along the road when a group of men in a car forced him inside and took him towards the Itaura Bypass.

Initially, the family had no idea about the kidnapping. Once they found out, they informed the police immediately. News of the abduction from a busy area during the day caused panic in the police department.

Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh formed a special team led by Station In-Charge Shrangesh Singh Rajput.

With the help of CCTV footage, police tracked the kidnappers’ route and blocked all exits from the city. Sensing trouble, the kidnappers released the elderly man near Dhekaha Tiraha and fled the scene.

During questioning, the man revealed that the main accused, Praveen Mishra, had kidnapped him. Police quickly traced Praveen’s location and arrested him. His three associates managed to escape, and a search is currently underway.

It was later found that Praveen had once lived on rent at the victim’s house. The victim’s son had taken money from him but failed to return it and even stopped answering calls.

To threaten the son, Praveen kidnapped the father and said he wouldn’t let him go until the money was paid back.
