Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): Seven people have allegedly died after receiving treatment from a fake heart doctor at a missionary hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district.

The fake doctor misused the name of the renowned British cardiologist Professor John Camm to deceive patients.

The shocking case has caused anger in the region and led to an investigation by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

A team from NHRC will visit Damoh between April 7 and 9 to look into the case. NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo said the person involved pretended to be a well-known UK-based heart doctor to gain the trust of patients.

The complaint was filed by a local resident, Deepak Tiwari. He claimed that the man treating patients at Damoh Mission Hospital introduced himself as Dr. N John Camm. However, the complaint says his real name is Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, and that he used the name of British heart specialist Professor John Camm to fool people. Tiwari alleged that seven people died between January and February 2025 because of wrong treatment given by Yadav.

So far, Mission Hospital has not issued any official statement about the matter.

NHRC member Kanoongo shared details of the case on social media. He said, “A fake doctor was treating heart patients in a missionary hospital in Damoh, leading to the deaths of seven people. The hospital is also reportedly part of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and may have wrongly used government funds.”

The NHRC team will speak to hospital staff, government officials, and the families of the victims during their visit. They have also invited anyone with useful information to come forward.

The complaint also mentions that Yadav has a history of moving between hospitals and has been involved in other questionable activities in the past.

District Collector Sudhir Kochar confirmed that the local administration has received the complaint and is doing its own investigation. “We will take further steps after the report is ready,” he said.
