Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A 65-year-old farmer died after lightning struck his house in Gwalior on Sunday.
He was sleeping in a room on the second floor when the incident happened during a thunderstorm.
According to information, the farmer Rajendra Singh Rawat, died after lightning struck his house in Raipursani village under Bhitarwar sub-division in Madhya Pradesh.
Family members heard a loud noise and rushed upstairs, where they found that two cement slabs had fallen from the ceiling. Rajendra Singh was trapped under the debris.
He was pulled out and taken to the Bhitarwar Community Health Center, but doctors declared him dead. He was the son of Kishan Lal Singh Rawat.
This was the second lightning-related death in the area in two days. A day earlier, a woman named Malti Rawat died in Khor village under the Balgadha police station area. She was returning home with her cattle when lightning struck her during heavy rain. She was badly burnt and later died during treatment at the hospital.
Bhitarwar SDM Sanjeev Jain confirmed that the government will provide financial assistance to the families of both victims as per the rules.
