Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): As many as five people died after storm hit Gwalior-Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday night. Four of them died in Morena and a 9-year-old girl lost her life in Bhind.
The deceased have been identified as Sonu Kushwaha, Shriram Kushwaha, Lakshmi in Matabasaiya and Ramdulari Mahor and 9-year-old Anjali alias Anjo Baghel.
The strong winds blew off sheds and roofs of shanties, uprooted trees, damaged transformers, wreaking havoc in the region late night.
According to information, a trolley full of straw overturned due to violent winds in Jabraul village of Sabalgarh at 10:30 pm. Sonu Kushwaha died after being crushed under the trolley.
Similarly, a tree broke and fell on Shriram Kushwaha who was sleeping in the Har of Rampura in Dimni. The old man died due to serious head injury. Lakshmi in Matabasaiya and Ramdulari Mahor in Ambah died due to the fall of a tin shed.
Trees uprooted at 6 dozen places
Pre-monsoon rain was recorded all over Madhya Pradesh in the last 24 hours. This has happened for the first time in this season. On Thursday night, a storm with a speed of 70 km per hour wreaked havoc. Many accidents occurred during this period.
Due to the strong storm, trees were uprooted at 6 dozen places. Electricity supply was disrupted due to breaking of electricity poles at many places. In the village of Badera in Gohad, the cemented sheet on the house fell on 9-year-old Anjali alias Anjo Baghel who was sleeping in the courtyard, killing her. In Nayapura, Chandrakali Goyal who was sleeping in the courtyard was seriously injured when a stone fell on her head.

Tree fell on a house in Datia
Apart from this, more than 70 electricity poles were broken in Datia district due to the storm, 8 transformers were damaged. A house was damaged due to the falling of a tree in Sevadha. 26 mm of rain was recorded in the district.
In Sheopur, electricity was cut off in most parts of the district due to the storm. In Pandola, gram-sized hail fell for 15 minutes at 4:30 pm on Thursday. After this, the storm started in Shivpuri at 11 pm. The company stopped the electricity supply.
According to the meteorologist, the monsoon will get current from the low pressure formed in the Arabian Sea, but if this system draws in the surrounding moisture, the speed of the monsoon may slow down. In such a case, it may get stuck in Kerala for a few days. It may enter Madhya Pradesh between 16 and 18 June.
