Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 37-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a muslim man who posed as hindu on a matrimonial site in Jabalpur. The police registered a case against the accused on Saturday.

The woman is from the Kotwali area in Jabalpur, was allegedly raped by a man who posed as "Rahul" on the matrimonial site Shaadi.com.

According to information, the accused, identified as Mohammad Hussain, created a fake profile under the name "Rahul" and contacted the victim, expressing intentions to marry her.

On September 22, he invited her to Darpan Hotel in the Lordganj area under the pretense of discussing marriage. However, he allegedly raped her at the hotel.

After the incident, Mohammad Hussain refused to fulfill his promise of marriage to the woman and began issuing threats to make her silent. Feeling betrayed and unsafe, the woman approached the police and filed a formal complaint against him on Sunday.

Acting on the complaint, the Lordganj police swiftly arrested the accused. A case has been registered against him under charges of rape, exploitation, and provisions of the SC/ST Act.

The police are now thoroughly investigating the matter to gather additional evidence and uncover any other possible connections or victims related to the accused.
