Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old man was shot dead late Saturday night while celebrating a friend's birthday in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal.
According to information, the incident took place in Leeladhar Colony area under Chhola Mandir police station limits and the deceased was identified as Amit Verma.
Amit worked at a garments shop and lived in Khatipura. He had gone to his friend Ashu Khateek’s house to celebrate his birthday around midnight. After cutting the cake, Amit and his friends were standing on the road chatting when the attack happened.
Old dispute suspected
According to police and eyewitnesses, 6 men on two motorbikes arrived at the scene and started firing randomly. Two bullets hit Amit - one in the head and one in the stomach. He died on the spot.
Amit’s brother, Atul Verma, said the attackers fired at least 6 bullets. The main accused is a known criminal, Naseem Banne Khan, who claims to be associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Police say the real target was another criminal, Raja Khateek, who was present at the birthday gathering. Naseem and Raja reportedly had a long-standing dispute over money. Instead, Amit got shot during the chaos.

₹30k bounty announced
Police have filed a case against Naseem and his associate Wasim and launched a search operation. A reward of ₹30k has been announced for information leading to their arrest.
Before the attack, Naseem had sent Nawaz a threat through a voice message. Later, he was caught by police and was injured in a brief encounter during his attempted escape.
Police have launched a probe and have been deployed to capture the accused.
