Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): An 18-year-old boy was arrested for robbing a new pickup truck after assaulting the driver who was transporting it to a showroom.

The accused was found using the stolen vehicle at the Chhatarpur Mandi (market). The stolen pickup truck, valued at ₹10 lakhs, has been recovered.

The incident took place on night of April 19, 2025. Sheikh Athhar Ali (38), a resident of Ambad, Jalna district, Maharashtra, reported to Bargi Police Station that he was driving a new Mahindra pickup vehicle from Pune to Satna for delivery to a showroom.

On April 17, 2025, around 1:30 pm, he parked the vehicle and dozed off inside the vehicle near Raipura bus stop.

Three individuals woke him up, asking for a ride to Jabalpur for ₹150. When he refused, one of them punched him and forced him to start the vehicle. The three then got into the pickup and forced him to drive towards Jabalpur.

On reaching Jabalpur, when Ali asked them to alight, they insisted on going further, continuing to assault him with punches while the vehicle was moving. One of them hit him on the head with a hard object, causing injury.

On reaching Sleemanabad, Katni district, they took his wallet and mobile phone from his pocket, pushed him out of the moving vehicle, and fled with the unladen pickup truck, his mobile phone, and wallet containing his Aadhaar card, driving licence, and ₹3,000.

A case was registered under Section 309(6) BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) and investigation commenced.

The cops team launched an intensive search and, based on their investigation, raided Garhi Malhera, Chhatarpur, where they apprehended Mohd. Armaan (18) of Garhi Malhera, Chhatarpur.

On interrogation, Armaan confessed to committing the crime with two 17-year-old accomplices.

He stated that the stolen mobile phone and cash were with his two minor associates, while he had kept the pickup truck.

The accused also revealed that he had a cargo bed installed on the pickup and was using it at the market.

Efforts to locate the two 17-year-old accomplices are ongoing as they were not found at their residence.

The pickup truck, valued at ₹10 lakhs, was seized from Mohd. Armaan's possession. He has been formally arrested and presented before the court, where he has been taken into police remand for two days for further interrogation.
