Skoda India has begun production of the Kylaq, its smallest SUV, at the Chakan plant, which has increased production capacity by 30% to accommodate the new model. The Kylaq is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, the same platform used by the Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun, and Virtus, contributing to its competitive pricing of ₹7.89 lakh. To support faster production, Skoda has also expanded its supplier capacity by 10%, ensuring quicker procurement of components for the new SUV.

To meet the demand for the Kylaq, Skoda India has increased production capacity by 30% at its Chakan plant. The company plans to produce 50,000 to 70,000 units of the SUV annually, which translates to a monthly target of 4,000 to 5,800 units. Initially, the Kylaq will be available in the domestic market, with plans to export the model later to optimize economies of scale.
Skoda Auto India has announced that its first sub-4 meter SUV, the Kylaq, has already received over 10,000 bookings within just 10 days of its launch. The SUV is offered in four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige, with prices starting at Rs 7.89 lakh for the base Classic trim and going up to Rs 14.40 lakh for the top-end Prestige AT. Bookings for the Kylaq opened on December 2, and deliveries are scheduled to begin on January 27, 2025. Additionally, the first 33,333 customers will receive a complimentary 3-year Standard Maintenance Package as part of a special introductory offer.

The Kylaq is built on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform, offering a blend of performance, safety, and practicality to the sub-4 meter SUV segment. Co-developed by Skoda’s teams in India and the Czech Republic, the platform is designed for cost-efficiency and high localisation, already proven in models like the Kushaq and Slavia, both of which have earned a 5-star Global NCAP rating. The Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine, delivering 113 bhp and 178Nm of torque, with a top speed of 188 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 10.5 seconds (manual variant).

The SUV is available with a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. For safety, it is equipped with over 25 features, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX mounts, and rollover protection. With compact dimensions of 3,995mm in length, 1,783mm in width, and 1,619mm in height, along with a 2,566mm wheelbase and 189mm ground clearance, the Kylaq offers a spacious cabin and versatile driving capabilities. It is available in seven colours, including the exclusive Olive Gold.
