Mercedes-Benz India has recalled 386 units of the Maybach S-Class, citing a potential defect in the engine control unit (ECU) software. The affected vehicles belong to the seventh-generation S-Class lineup, introduced in 2021. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufaturers (SIAM), the ECU software in these models does not meet current specifications. The Maybach S-Class, positioned as a more luxurious version of the standard S-Class, remains one of the brand’s most premium offerings in India.

The affected vehicles were manufactured between April 29, 2021, and January 27, 2024. According to SIAM, the faulty ECU software could lead to higher exhaust temperatures, risking damage to components like the engine wiring harness and catalytic converter. This issue may also cause sudden loss of propulsion and increase the risk of fire. While Mercedes-Benz has not commented on the recall, owners of impacted vehicles are advised to contact their nearest dealerships. The company is expected to address the issue with free repairs to ensure safety.
