Amarnath Yatra 2025: 5 Food Items That Are 'Banned' On The Pilgrimage

The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) has issued a health advisory for the 2025 Amarnath Yatra, listing specific food items that are prohibited during the pilgrimage

This measure aims to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims undertaking the challenging trek to the holy cave

Items such as poori, bhatura, pizza, burger, stuffed paratha, dosa, fried roti, bread with butter, samosa are banned due to their high fat content

Condiments like pickle, chutney and fried papad are banned due to their high sodium content that can cause blood pressure to rise

Chowmein and other chinese items are banned due because they do not get digested easily can can cause discomfort to the piligrims

Sweets such as halwa, jalebi, gulab jamun, laddu, khoya burfi are prohibited to prevent energy crashes and maintain stable blood sugar levels during the strenuous journey

Aerated beverages, karrah, chips, kurkure, matthi, namkeen mixtures are banned to avoid dehydration and digestive discomfort
