WWE Smack Down: Did John Cena Turn Face Ahead Of Summer Slam 2025? Undisputed Champion Regrets Turning Heel & Shares Beer With Cody Rhodes; Video
It was during the pay-per-view of the Elimination Chamber held earlier this year that the 47-year-old had turned heel for the first time since the year 2003 as he mercilessly attacked Rhodes, siding with The Rock and Travis Scott. In the subsequent months, he derided the fans for the treatment meted out to him and had feuds with the likes of Randy Orton and CM Punk.

WWE Undisputed champion John Cena strongly hinted at turning face during the latest episode of WWE Smack Down, with Summer Slam 2025 on the horizon. Coming face to face with challenger Cody Rhodes, the veteran wrestler touched upon The Rock's idea of turning heel as he pretended to be something he was not.

In the subsequent months, he derided the fans for the treatment meted out to him and had feuds with the likes of Randy Orton and CM Punk.
Reflecting on the last week's Smack Down when Rhodes made Cena forcibly sign the contract, Cena thanked him for doing it as it was 'a boot in the ass' he required. The 47-year-old also backtracked from his earlier statement wanting to 'ruin wrestling' and that he wants to leave with the title so fans don't forget about him.

While it certainly seemed like Cena had turned fan favourite again, it remains to be seen if Summer Slam throws in any twist. The 17-time World Champion is likely to stick around in the WWE until December 2025.
