The July 14 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, witnessed the return of former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns after being away from the spotlight for months.
Reigns Saves CM Punk and Jey Uso
As the show reached its closing moments, CM Punk had just secured a hard-fought win over Bron Breakker in the final leg of a Gauntlet match to determine the No. 1 contender for Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. But the celebration was short-lived.
Bronson Reed stormed the ring post-match, launching a brutal two-on-one assault on Punk alongside Breakker. Jey Uso quickly ran in to assist Punk, but the odds remained against them.
Then, in a moment of pure electricity, Roman Reigns’ music hit, drawing a thunderous reaction from the Birmingham crowd.
Reigns charged to the ring, cleared out both Reed and Breakker, and stood tall alongside his cousin Jey Uso and the once-rival CM Punk, marking a powerful and unexpected reunion.
Following the save, Reigns helped Jey Uso to his feet and even shared a respectful nod with Punk, a man with whom he’s had a rocky history in the past. Chants of “Tribal Chief One” echoed through the arena, hinting at a possible evolution of his character or even a new era in The Bloodline saga.
Reigns's first appearance since WrestleMania 41
This marked Reigns’ first appearance since the Raw episode following WrestleMania 41, where he suffered a major loss and disappeared from weekly programming. With SummerSlam just around the corner—set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, his return was heavily speculated, and fans finally got their answer on Monday night.
Insider reports had hinted that Reigns was involved in SummerSlam’s creative planning, suggesting his comeback was imminent. True to form, WWE waited until the perfect moment to reintroduce him.
With Seth Rollins out it now seems likely that a Reigns vs. Breakker showdown at SummerSlam could be on the cards.
