Maharashtra State Open Squash: Rachit Shah Overcomes Strong Challenge From Anshuman Jaising In Opening Round

Rachit Shah staved off a strong challenge from Anshuman Jaising to win 3-1 in the opening round of the 48th Bombay Silver Scent-48 Gymkhana Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship 2025 played at the Bombay Gymkhana Squash Courts on Sunday.
Rachit sailed through the first two games comfortably winning them 11-4 and 11-5 before stumbling in the third, committing some unforced errors that saw grab the opportunity and clawed back into the match, taking the third 11-7.
However, Rachit pulled up his socks in the fourth game and executed some smart tricky shots off the wall to checkmate his opponent's fightback to close out the game and match at 11-4.
The Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship is one of India’s oldest and premier tournaments in the Indian Squash calendar with a total of 567 players participating in the tournament.
Among the leading players to feature in the tournament are Abhay Singh, Rahul Baitha, Ayaan Vaziralli, Nevindu Lakman.
