IPL 2025: Mitch Owen To Join PBKS As Glenn Maxwell's Replacement For ₹3 Crore After Finishing PSL Commitments
According to reports, the 23-year-old Aussie batter will link up with the Punjab Kings after his commitments with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have roped in Big Bash League's (BBL) breakout star Mitch Owen as Glenn Maxwell's injury replacement ahead of their remaining matches of IPL 2025. An official announcement came on May 4, Sunday, hours before Punjab Kings' match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Dharamsala and Owen will join PBKS for ₹3 crore.

According to reports, the 23-year-old Aussie batter will link up with the Punjab Kings after his commitments with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam. Owen announced himself to the cricketing fraternity with a 39-ball century for the Hobart Hurricanes during the Big Bash League (BBL) final earlier this year against the Sydney Thunder in the final, propelling his side to a seven-wicket victory. However, he has struggled in the PSL, managing only 101 runs in seven matches with a best of 34.
Maxwell, meanwhile, is said to have suffered a broken finger as the announcement was made before the clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk. The Victorian's form was a massive worry during the tournament as he managed only 48 runs in seven matches, averaging a woeful 8.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings are firmly in the frame to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2025 as they are currently in the fourth position with six wins in ten matches alongside three defeats.
Shreyas Iyer and co. will face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Dharamsala on Sunday as they hope to register their seventh win and solidify their playoff hopes.
