What could’ve been just another equipment mishap turned into a light-hearted spectacle, thanks to DC skipper Axar Patel’s witty take on the situation.
In a video shared by the franchise on their official social media channels, Rahul can be seen practising intensely when the bat suddenly breaks mid-shot. As teammates looked on, Axar seized the moment, picking up the top half of the bat now just a handle with a small bit of blade and jokingly introduced it as a "mongoose bat" to teammate Tristan Stubbs. Rahul slammed a half-century and registered a massive record at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Rahul got to the 5000-run mark in the Indian cash-rich league and became the fastest batter to reach the milestone. Rahul reached the landmark in just 130 innings, breaking Aussie star David Warner's record. Warner had reached the 5000-run mark in 135 innings.
