Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja became the most successful bowling duo for Team India in Test Cricket during the ongoing first Test against England at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, January 25.

Ashwin and Jadeja have been one of the most formidable bowling pairs for India for over a decade in Test Cricket. The duo played an instrumental role in team's success in red-ball at home and away. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja surpassed Anil Kumble and Harbhajan's tally of 501 wickets to become the leading wicket-takers as Indian bowling pair.

The record for the most wickets by a bowling pair in Test Cricket is with James Anderson and Stuart Broad as the English pace bowling scalped 1039 wickets together. Broad retired from Test Cricket after The Ashes series in July last year, while James Anderson is part of England Test squad for the ongoing series against India.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been playing Test Cricket together for Team India since December 2012. The duo have posed a serious threat to their oppositions' batting line-up with their spin bowling. In the ongoing first Test against England is Ashwin and Jadeja 50th match together in whites.

Ashwin and Jadeja put India on top on Day 1 in Hyderabad

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja has yet again proved why they are crucial players in dominate conditions on Day 1 of the first Test against England.

After England opted to bat first, the opening pair of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett built visitors' momentum early on in the first session. The duo shared a 55-run partnership before Ashwin provided the first breakthrough for India by dismissing Duckett for 39.

Thereafter, Ravindra Jadeja picked his wicket of Ollie Pope, caught by Rohit Sharma at slip. Ashwin came into attack and sent back Zak Crawley for 20. The spin bowling duo reduced England's total from 55/0 to 60/3.

After Crawley's wicket, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow took charge of England's first innings batter. The pair took the visitors past 100-run mark after quick wickets.

At the end of first session, England were 108/3 in 28 overs, with Bairstow and Root batting on 32 and 18, respectively.
