With Chris Woakes' shoulder injury under focus and whether or not he will bat on Day 5 against India at The Oval, he could play in the same fashion as Malik.

The Test match between Pakistan and West Indies dates back to October 1986 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. It was after Tauseem Ahmed was dismissed by Courtney Walsh as the hosts crumbled to 296/9. Malik, who came out at number nine, to face the likes of Walsh and Malcolm Marshall with a plastered arm after a broken arm. Although the 62-year-old stayed unbeaten at 3 as Pakistan set a target of 240, it proved to be more than enough as West Indies collapsed to 53.

"He is desperate to do what it takes" - Joe Root on Chris Woakes

During the presser after Day 4 at The Oval, England batter Joe Root said he hopes for the situation to not be grave enough for Woakes to come out to bat. Root told BBC Test Match Special:

"I assume so. He is desperate to do what it takes. There is a lot of things that have to happen before that. It's been that kind of series where guys have had to put bodies on the line. Hopefully it doesn't come to that but he had some throw-downs in here at one point so he's ready if needed."

The home side found themselves in a tricky spot after being reduced to 339/6 in pursuit of 374. They were coasting to the target at one stage, thanks to centuries from Harry Brook and Joe Root. However, the closing stages of Day 4 saw the hosts battling for every single run and will come out on Day 5, with 35 more needing.
