Team India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma's photo of bulged belly surfaced on social media and copped plenty of flak from the netizens, with the star opener reportedly wanting to play in the 2027 World Cup. Netizens raised question marks about his fitness in the process, claiming that he cannot aim to play in the tournament in this state.
The photo of Rohit was of the 38-year-old stepping out of the Mumbai international airport after spending his holidays in London. The elegant right-hander was also present for one of the days for the final Test between England and India at the Kia Oval Cricket Ground in London.
Watch some of the reactions by the netizens to Rohit's picture:
The Nagpur-born cricketer will only play ODIs now, having retired from Test cricket in May 2025 and calling it quits from T20Is after the World Cup last year. The right-hander's spot in the Test side had come massively after a forgettable tour of Australia where he managed only 31 runs in the three Tests he played. Having missed out on winning the 2023 World Cup, Rohit is likely targeting lifting the trophy in 2027 to finish his career.
Rohit Sharma to next appear in national colours during the Australia tour
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old's next commitment for Team India is likely to come only during the limited-overs tour of Australia in October for three ODIs and as many T20Is. The Men in Blue were scheduled to tour Bangladesh in August for three ODIs and three T20Is but the BCCI postponed it.
With the Asia Cup also being held in the T20I format, Rohit will not be part of it. The tour of Australia in October could also be the last ever for both Rohit and Kohli.
