With India launching air strikes across the Kashmir border, concerns have escalated for international cricketers currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. The ongoing geopolitical conflict triggered by a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, India has left England’s contingent in the PSL divided on whether to stay in the country or return home.
According to a report by The Telegraph, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) held an emergency meeting to assess the situation and review player safety. The report further states that most England cricketers have decided to remain in Pakistan, trusting the current security arrangements. However, a few players are exploring options to return to the UK.
In a tweet by Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq, it was revealed that "England cricketers David Willey & Chris Jordan have told their franchise Multan Sultans that they wish to leave for home as their team is already out of the playoffs and they have only one match remaining."

Why are England players hesitant to leave PSL 2025?
Despite the developing conflict, The Telegraph reports that many English players are satisfied with the current security provided by Pakistan's PSL organizers. Leaving mid-season could also have financial implications. PSL players are paid per match, meaning early exits would result in lost earnings. The group stage of PSL 2025 ends on May 11, meaning only a few days of play remain.
An agent representing several overseas players told the publication, “On the assumption things have settled and air space is opening up, the security advisors seem a little relaxed. It’s business as usual but obviously if anything else happens in the next 24 hours you’d imagine people will just want to leave. I don’t see – at this moment in time a huge exodus.”
