Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive work culture, Western Railway’s Mumbai Central Division organized an impactful awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH) Act, 2013 on 7th May, 2025 at the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) Office, Mumbai Central.

The session was attended by officers and staff from various departments and had the esteemed presence of Aarti Singh Parihar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations & Human Resources), as the Chief Guest.

According to Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the objective of the session was to enhance understanding of the POSH Act and to reaffirm Western Railway’s zero-tolerance stance towards sexual harassment at the workplace.

Subject experts delivered an insightful presentation that highlighted the key provisions and objectives of the Act, the constitution and functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), and the formal procedures for reporting and addressing workplace harassment. The session emphasized the importance of awareness, sensitivity, and collective responsibility among all employees.

As part of this initiative, an informative pamphlet was also unveiled, providing employees with easy-to-understand guidance on their rights, responsibilities, and the available grievance redressal mechanisms under the POSH framework.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion in which participants actively asked questions and sought clarifications about the practical aspects of implementing the Act. This was followed by a special talk on Mental Health and Wellbeing delivered by a professional counsellor, who focused on emotional resilience and the importance of creating a psychologically safe and supportive workplace environment.

Western Railway has consistently taken proactive steps to uphold the dignity and safety of its employees through regular sensitization programs, a functional ICC, and a robust redressal system. Such initiatives underscore Western Railway’s dedicated approach toward building a safe, aware, and empowered workplace for all.
