Sydney Thunder skipper David Warner produced a stunning moment of brilliance by taking an amazing catch to dismiss Ashton Agar during Big Bash League between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers. The official Big Bash League handle on X (formerly Twitter) shared the video of the brilliant moment.
The catch by Warner was taken in the 14th over when Mohammed Hasnain delivered a length ball which Ashton Agar smashed with power. However, Warner who had stationed himself at mid off dived spectacularly to take a breathtaking catch, leaving fans and teammates in awe. His celebratory reaction was as electrifying as the effort itself.
Sydney Thunder beats Perth Scorchers by 61 runs
Perth Scorchers skipper Ashton Turner won the toss and opted to bowl first. Thunder had a steady start with openers Sam Konstas and Warner putting up a 36-run partnership. Warner, however, fell for just 8 runs, while Konstas smashed his maiden BBL fifty. The opener scored 53 runs off 42 balls. Despite a middle-order collapse, Tom Andrews (37) and Chris Green (20) added vital runs down the order, guiding the Thunder to a modest total of 158/7.
The Perth Scorchers bowlers had an impressive outing, with Lance Morris leading the attack by taking 3 wickets. Jason Behrendorff, Ashton Agar, Cooper Connolly, and Matthew Spoors chipped in with a wicket each.
In response, the Scorchers faltered under pressure, getting bundled out for just 97 runs. Aaron Hardie was the top scorer with 22, as no other batter managed to make a significant contribution.
The Thunder bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Chris Green picking 3 wickets and Nathan McAndrew adding 2 to his tally. Mohammed Hasnain, Tanveer Sangha, and Tom Andrews claimed a wicket each.
