During an intense match between the Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes, Australian star batter David Warner found himself in an unusual situation.

While facing Riley Meredith in the first over of the innings, Warner accidentally hit himself after his bat broke mid-play. The official Big Bash League handle on X (formerly Twitter) shared a video of the incident, capturing the rare moment.

while attempting a shot off the fourth ball, Warner accidentally broke his bat, and a piece of the shattered willow striking him on the helmet. Fortunately, the Australian star wasn't harmed and continued his innings without further trouble.

Sydney Thunders posted modest 165 runs target

Sydney Thunder, batting first, had a shaky start but managed to steady the ship thanks to Warner's brilliance. The skipper played a commanding knock and remained unbeaten on 88, anchoring his team's innings.

However, the rest of the Thunder's batting lineup struggled to provide substantial support. Sam Billings contributed the second-highest score with 28 runs, but the team faced challenges in building partnerships.

After 18 overs, the Thunder had posted a modest total of 141/4, eventually setting a target of 165 for the Hurricanes to chase. The Hobart Hurricanes' bowling attack was effective in limiting the Thunder's scoring opportunities, with Riley Meredith leading the charge by taking two wickets. Billy Stanlake, Chris Jordan, and Nikhil Chaudhary chipped in with a wicket each to keep the opposition under pressure.

While writing the article Hobart Hurricanes reached 124/4 after 14 overs. Tim David is unbeaten on 39 while Chris Jordan is on 6*. From Sydney Thunders George Garton picked 2 wickets.
