The former Team India coach had succeeded Kumar Sangakkara in the role for the Royals ahead of the 2025 edition. However, his foray into coaching has been far from ideal, with the Royals already finding themselves out of playoffs contention this year.

Rajasthan Royals' head coach Rahul Dravid has often been witnessed at the dugout writing something during IPL 2025 matches and the veteran has broken his silence on the same. The former Indian captain revealed that he doesn't write anything complex and that it's only a method of scoring that is convenient for him.
The former Team India coach had succeeded Kumar Sangakkara in the role for the Royals ahead of the 2025 edition. However, his foray into coaching has been far from ideal, with the Royals already finding themselves out of playoffs contention this year.
In a video uploaded on Star Sports, Dravid said:
"I have a particular way of scoring a game, both T20 and one-day games. I have a particular way of scoring it which helps me review it later. I can look at the scorecard but I score it in a particular way that I find it comfortable and easy to be able to review without looking at the scorecard. Sometimes you're sitting at your room at the end of the game and you want to think over what happened in that over or in that particular phase of the game."
"So, I have a particular format, which is slightly different to the normal scorecard. That's more convenient for me to be able to think about it and review the game. So, it's nothing complex or rocket science, I'm not writing some great truths. It's as boring and dumb as you can say."
Chennai Super Kings had lost to the Rajasthan Royals earlier in the tournament
With the Super Kings set to face the Royals next, they had lost to Rajasthan earlier in the tournament in Guwahati. It was the first win of the campaign for the Royals but the inaugural IPL champions' campaign haven't been able to carry on with the same consistency, especially with Sanju Samson missing a handful of games due to the rib injury suffered during the fixture against the Delhi Capitals.
The Super Kings have endured a similar campaign, with MS Dhoni forcing to take over as captain after the elbow injury to Ruturaj Gaikwad. With two matches left for both sides, they will be looking to finish off on a high.
