Viral: Reddit User Slams Virat Kohli's One8 Commune, Calling It 'Worst Restaurant In Pune'

Ace cricketer Virat Kohli-backed restaurant chain, One8 Commune, has outlets in major cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mohali, among others. However, a Reddit user recently shared a scathing review, calling its Pune branch "the worst restaurant" in the city.

The user said that she had reserved a table at One8 Commune for 7:30pm. "We reached at 7:39pm, which is well within their standard norm of holding a table for 15 minutes. The girl told me that she had given our table to someone else with no explanation, just because she wanted to. Then she gave us one table and told us that it was only till 9:30pm. By this time it was already 7:45pm, and since 8:30, every five minutes they were coming and checking our table, making it so obvious. While having main course, the girl was just a few meters away and asking us for how long we will take."

"We felt so bad while eating that we just finished quickly and asked for the bill. We didn't even drink water for which they charged us Rs 200. All this pathetic behaviour despite paying more than Rs 3,000 for two persons. They don't need to train their staff, they need to replace them. Definitely never going back again," the user added.

This isn't the first time that Pune's One8 Commune is in the news. In 2021, an LGBTQIA+ group 'Yes, We Exist' had called out the restaurant for discrimination towards the community.

The group took to Instagram and wrote, "@virat.kohli you are probably not aware of this, but your restaurant @one8.commune in Pune discriminates against LGBTQIA+ guests. The other branches too have a similar policy. This is unexpected and unacceptable. Hope you make the necessary changes ASAP."

Reportedly, the restaurant had denied entry to a gay couple. However, later it clarified that they don'tdiscriminate based on gender. "We have restriction on stag entry which means individual boys are not allowed within the premises. This is only for the safety of the ladies present in the premises," it added.
