During the Thakur Baba Ringan ceremony held this morning in Pandharpur, an incident involving Chopdar Balasaheb Pattewar has sparked outrage among the Warkari community on Thrusday.

Chopdar Balasaheb Pattewar was seen pushing a female Warkari in a disrespectful and unacceptable manner. The Warkari community is now demanding strict action against him for his inappropriate behavior during the sacred procession.

In the video, one can see that as the Ringan is going on, a female Warkari was going to the corner with Tulsi on her head. Pattewar, however, got very pissed and pushed her from the Ringan ground, and she fell on people sitting on the periphery. After the incident, while speaking with the media, the woman said she wanted to do the Ringan ritual and went there, but the Chopdar pushed her.

Ringan ceremony and Chopdar

Chopdar is the individual responsible for managing the movement of the palanquin and horses during the Ringan.

A highlight of the 'Ringan' is the horse runner or the ‘Maulicha Ashwa,’ the sacred horse, where one or two horses play a central role. One horse carries a mounted rider, while the other remains empty, symbolising the presence of saints. Led by the Chopdar, the horses gracefully make three rounds in the arena, captivating the devotees' attention.
